Welcome to the OCMS PTO website!

We have updated this site for the 2011-2012 school year. We hope that Oconee County Middle School parents, teachers and students will find useful information and links on this site. PTO Meeting Minutes can be viewed by clicking on the "PTO Documents" link on the right-hand side of this page. If you can't find what you are looking for, please let us know!

22nd Annual Brave Run, Saturday, March 17th!

The 22nd Annual OCMS Brave Run will be held at OCMS on Saturday, March 17th. The 1-mile Fun Run begins at 11:30am and the 5K begins at 12 noon.

The Brave Run is a run/walk that is open to all ages and abilities. The race is a cooperative effort of the OCMS PTO, OCMS faculty and staff and supporting sponsor businesses. If you or your business would like to support public education by sponsoring the race, please get our sponsor form and send it in as soon as possible!

Proceeds from this year's race will help the PTO contribute toward the acquisition of new technology for classroom instruction.

Please get the registration form, fill it out and return to OCMS by March 8th.

If you have questions, send an email to braverun@ocmspto.org.

It's Box Tops Time again!

It’s time to send in Box Tops!  Our first Box Tops check this year was $773!  We are trying to raise $1,000 this year through this program. We can exceed this goal if every family participates.  Please send in your Box Tops marked with your homeroom teacher’s name by February 24th.  The class that sends in the most will win DONUTS!  If you have any questions, please visit www.boxtops4education.com or contact Patsy Forester at forester1291@charter.net.  Thanks to everyone for helping with this great fundraiser!

Happy New Year!

Strap on your seatbelts! Hold on to your hats! The spring semester rollercoaster ride is about to begin!

Happy New Year! We have had a wonderful year so far—and look forward to the excitement that surrounds our kids for the next 5 months! The PTO has many events planned and we are hopeful you will find a way to support either by attending the events or volunteering. We can always use another ‘pair of hands’!

Our annual Talent Show is scheduled for Feb 23. It is a program which showcases all the many things our kids enjoy in the fine arts department. We also have other talents, like trapeze, puppetry and skits. The show is a great time to spotlight the talent—and fun for the rest of us to watch! (*money raised will fund the purchase of AED).

Our annual Brave Run is scheduled for Saturday, March 17. Fliers are available in the office and we will have a link on our website. Dust off your running shoes and join us for the Race or the Fun Run. It’s always a good time.

We’ll have a second Book Fair in March, as well. The Library Squad will help organize this sale and we hope to again have the great support that was shown in the fall.

The BIG fundraiser for the year is in March. We will again sell the Fantastic Savings Coupon Books. Our profit was almost $10,000 last year—and we hope to beat that this time! (Profits fund technology purchases and also the mini grants funded in the fall). We will have a couple planning meetings and then the 10 day sale in March. If you can help with the distribution of the books, daily counts, and follow up, or would consider being the chair for this event, PLEASE email me or call (see below!) We have several people who can help-but REALLY need a point person to be “in charge”! I am in need of a “superman/superwoman” who can give an hour or so each morning (or as many as possible—as we have some ‘subs”)…PLEASE!

Thanks for all you do for our children and the school staff. We are proud to be
“BRAVE ENOUGH TO BE THE BEST”!
